The first ‘food only’ AD plant in the UK
The site was formerly a livestock slurry processing plant but having acquired the plant in 2005 Andigestion gradually turned it into a food only process. Over the years we have optimised the process and technology and have now developed the site into one of the most productive and efficient in the UK.
The site processes a huge variety of commercial organic waste ranging from the famous Cornish pasty right through to process effluent from chewing gum manufacture. We take over 70,000 tonnes a year of food waste and on average output 3.2MW from our engines. The site also receives around 7,000 tonnes per year of municipal wastes helping to ensure that local authorities divert our household waste away from landfill.
The Bishops Cleeve Biogas Plant in Gloucestershire is Andigestion’s first Biogas to Grid facility
The anaerobic digestion facility at Bishops Cleeve in Gloucestershire is a state of the art facility serving Gloucestershire County Council as well as Commercial customers. The 34,000 tonnes of food waste capacity per annum will produce gas that is injected directly back in to the gas network.
Gloucestershire residents and businesses that recycle their food waste will we have piece of mind of using a renewable gas that is retained within the local gas distribution network, reducing the need for imported gas from overseas.
